Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course is the second level of the first year program. It will will further expand on the previous term's work to develop more complex ways of expressing yourself, making comparisons and talking about daily activities, while further advancing your grammatical and alphabetical understanding.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • describe the origin of people, places and objects
  • indicate the location of people, places and objects
  • express preferences, likes and dislikes
  • make comparisons
  • recognise stressed words in Portuguese.

  • Pronunciation – review, tips and hints
  • Grammatical concepts
  • Countries, continents, places and prepositions
  • Review of “ser” and “estar” verbs
  • Adjectives and adjective sentences
  • Demonstrative, relative and possessive pronouns
  • Idiomatic expressions
  • Regular, irregular and reflexive verbs
  • The use of "to know"

Who this course is for

Suitable for A1 level students, those who have completed Brazilian 101, or those who have completed 20 hours of recent tuition.
